You can make working with tables much easier in word by making sure that you view the tables and border toolbar!When you insert a table, you do not automatically have access to the table toolbar.You need to select VIEW then TOOLBARS and make sure the table and border toolbar is checked off.The table and border toolbar has a handy eraser button that allows you to simply remove columns and rows by clicking on the eraser then the line you want to remove!

ANOTHER BETA TOOL FOR GOOGLE

They are at it again!  This time, google has introduced a product to help the world find your content. With Google Base, you can add any content and then describe it by using attributes so that others can access it. You can also search Google Base to find information other people have posted.  For example, you can search Google Base for Real Estate, then narrow that search to a specific location by zip code.  When we tried it, we got a list of FSBO's hosted by different FSBO websites!  Remember, it is a beta product so there will be some glitches, but it is worth taking a look at!

SEARCH ENGINE MATH

Using search engines can be overwhelming if you are not specific in your requests.  It helps to use some basic math.  If you are looking for two things that appear in the same page, simply use the + key.  The same is true for the - key.  For example, if you are looking for New York and the Statue of Liberty, then search New York + Statue of Liberty.  If you do not want any references to the Statue of Liberty, then search New York - Statue of Liberty. Using math while searching can really save time.

SPELLCHECK SHORTCUT

F7 is a quick way to spell-check a document in word.  You can also use F7 to spell check email in Outlook!  Get in the habit of pressing this handy key before CTRL + S to save!

MAKE USE OF THE WILDCARD FEATURE

There is nothing more frustrating than looking for a file on your computer when you do not remember its name or location!  Don't forget about the WILDCARD option. Simply click START then SEARCH and in the name box, type in the part of the name you remember and then a "*".

CLOCKWISE & COUNTER CLOCKWISE TEXT IN EXCEL

You have text angle clockwise or counter clockwise in Excel.  Simply locate the cell you want to change, from the CHART menu, select clockwise or counterclockwise.  If you do not see the CHART toolbar, right click on the toolbar and make sure CHART is checked off.

CHANGE HOW OFTEN OUTLOOK CHECKS FOR NEW MAIL

You can set OUTLOOK to change the frequency of checking for email. Browse to Tools, Send and Receive, Send /Receive Settings - find Define Send and Receive Groups or press Ctrl+Alt+S on your keyboard.
