SHRINK TO FIT ON ONE PAGE

Microsoft WORD has a useful tool that you might not have noticed before called the SHRINK TO FIT ON ONE PAGE tool. If you have a document that has a last page with one sentence or one word on it, click on Print Preview and then under the preview section, select SHRINK TO FIT ON ONE PAGE.

Searchme.com is a search engine for those who like to SEE their results! Type in a search phrase and you can actually SEE the individual page results and sift through them, selecting the page or pages you want! Check it out, it’s fun!

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS FOR OUTLOOK CALENDAR

Here is a handy tip for you to use while working in OUTLOOK. While your calendar is open, click on a day. Now, hit ALT + 2 to display two days. ALT +3 for three….all the way up to 9 days! This shortcut helps when you need to quickly see the days ahead on your calendar.


ARE ANIMATED ADS SLOWING YOU DOWN?

Bouncing, popping, singing and dancing advertisements are all over the internet. You can set your Internet Explorer to NOT play animations in websites if you choose. Follow the steps below…

  1. Select TOOLS
  2. Select INTERNET OPTIONS
  3.  Select ADVANCED
  4. About half way down the page, you will see MULTIMEDIA
  5. Uncheck the box that says "Play animations in webpages"

JUMBO TEXT ON WEBSITES

If while surfing the Internet, you find that the text you are reading on a website is too small for comfortable reading, then enlarge the text. It is easy. The two most common ways to do it are:

  • If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel, just hold down the control key and then scroll the wheel up or down to adjust text size.
  • Go to "View" at the top of your web browser and select "Text size". Adjust it to your preferred size.

ALT KEY IN OFFICE 2007

In Office 2007, you no longer have to hold down the ALT key to use shortcuts to access menus and their corresponding commands/sub-menus. Now you just have to hold ALT down long enough for the letters to pop up next to the menu headings. This enables a far more accurate and faster method of reaching the commands that you need!



TOP SECRET NOTES

If you have something super secret to say and want to make sure that it's private, check out privnote!

Just write your note, and you'll get a link. Then you copy and paste that link into an email (or instant message) that you send to the person who you want to read the note. When that person clicks the link for the first time, it will see the note in her browser and the note will automatically self-destruct, which means no one (even that very same person) can read the note again. The link won't work anymore.

OUTLOOK CONTACT HISTORY

Here is a great tip for those of you who use Outlook as your email client. You can quickly, and effortlessly, find a full history of mail sent to and received from any outlook contacts.

To get a full mail history with an Outlook contact:

  • Open Outlook.
  • Click Contacts.
  • Locate the appropriate contact from your contacts list.
  • Double click the contact.
  • Select the Activities tab


The resulting window will display a history of all your communications with that particular contact.

CHANGE PAGE NUMBERS IN WORD

You can change the formatting of your page numbers from the Header and Footer toolbar.

  • From the View menu, click Header and Footer.
  • Click the Switch between Header and Footer option on the toolbar.
  • Select a page number.
  • On the Formatting toolbar, select a new font using the drop down arrow beside the Font box. Increase or decrease the font size using the drop down arrow beside the Font Size box.

BACK AND FORTH WITH YOUR BROWSER

Want to quickly navigate back and forward in your Internet Explorer or Firefox browsing session, but can't be bothered with actually moving the mouse pointer to and clicking on those Back and Forward arrows at the top of the window? As long as your mouse has a scroll wheel: Just hold the Shift key down and rotate the wheel forward to go forward in your browsing history and backward to go back.

CAPS LOCK ON ACCIDENTALLY?

If you accidentally hit all caps in word, you can easily fix it by following the steps below…

  • Highlight the ALL CAPS text
  • Hit SHIFT + F3

INSPECT YOUR EXCEL SPREADSHEET

Your Excel 2007 documents contain a lot more information than just rows and columns of data. They may include tracked changes, comments, private properties, and more. To examine (and clean out) the hidden data in an Excel 2007 document, click the Office button at top left, point to Prepare, and click Inspect Document.

SMART TAGS IN EXCEL

The Smart Tag lets you enter a series of dates automatically. You can enter an ascending series according to days, months and years.

Select Cell A1, and press Ctrl+;

Click the Fill handle at the bottom right edge of Cell A1, and drag it to several cells in the column.
Do not cancel the selection of the range of dates. Excel creates a series according to days.

Click the arrow in the Smart Tag. Select Fill Months
