XP Antivirus 2008 Example Window
To remove "XP Antivirus 2008" and "XP Antivirus 2009" you will need to download, install and then scan your PC with two (2) free programs. We will first scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-malware and then once finished, with SUPERAntiSpyware. Here are the step by step instructions on how to install the programs and scan your PC.
Download, install and run scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-malware
2) Click on "Run" when prompted.
3) Continue through the install process with the default settings by clicking on "Next" then finally "Finish".
4) Now that we have the 2 programs, we need to run a scan with each of them. We will first scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-malware and then once finished, with SUPERAntiSpyware.
5) Click on your "Start" button on the bottom left of your screen, then go to "All Programs" then "Malwarebytes' Anti-malware". You will then click on "Malwarebytes' Anti-malware" to run the program.

6) Once the program screen opens, you will need to select "Perform full scan" as shown in Figure 1 above. Once selected click on the "Scan" button and then "Start Scan".
7) This scan will take between 45-60 minutes to complete. It is best if you do not use the PC while the scan is being performed.
8) After the scan, the program will advise you the scan completed and you can click "OK" and then "Show Results" to view the results.
9) All of the threats should be selected in the results window as shown in Figure 2 above. Click on "Remove Selected" to have the program remove these threats.
10) Once finished DO NOT restart your PC. We will now continue with the SUPERAntiSpyware program.

4) Click on your "Start" button on the bottom left of your screen, then go to "All Programs" then "SUPERAntiSpyware". You will then click on "SUPERAntiSpyware" to run the program. Please note: You may need to double click the bug icon displayed in your system tray located on the bottom right of your screen.
5) Click on the "Scan your Computer..." button on the top left of the SUPERAntiSpyware program window.

6) Select "Perform Complete Scan" on the left side of the next window as shown in Figure 1 above then click next.
7) This scan will take between 45-60 minutes to complete. It is best if you do not use the PC while the scan is being performed.
8) After the scan, the program will advise you the scan completed and you can view the results and click on "Finish" to remove the found infections.
9) You can now restart your computer. If you are still experiencing problems after the restart, you can run both scans again to be sure all infections were found and removed.
